Painting has been Rodger Heglar's lifelong passion.  His coastscapes depict the harmony he finds in the meeting of sea and shore.  His landscapes reflect the tranquility he sees in the natural world.  His plein air traditional paintings are in several media.  Self-taught, he's influenced by Old Masters and by early California plein air painters.

He has taken workshops/paint-outs by Jim Wilcox and Ray Roberts.  He holds juried memberships in national and local art groups such as Oil Painters of America, California Art Club, La Jolla Art Association (past President, Gallery Director), Pastel Society of San Diego, and San Diego Museum of ArtBArtists Guild.

He gives classes, demos, and workshops.
